SAILING CLUB
Erskine Lakes is a wonderful place to live and play. As you might have already
seen, we have organized Sailing Regattas throughout the boating season. There
is an open invitation to all ELPOA members to join us and see what Sunfish Sailing
and Racing on Erskine Lakes is all about. First, the club is open to ALL sailors
- novice, intermediate, and advanced. Those who have never sailed before are also
invited. You don't need to have a sailboat in order to sail. There are currently
two club-owned boats in sailing condition, available to members, with one additional
boat about to be restored. You can always give sailing a try by taking a ride
with any one of us, as well. We offer a Discover Sailing Program that provides
the fundamentals to get you started or improve your sailing skills. Members are
happy to provide tips and techniques, from light air tactics to building a homemade
wind indicator. If you are in the market for a sailboat, we can give you pointers
on what to look for (and what to avoid) in purchasing a new or used boat. Anyone
interested in lending or donating their Sunfish to the Club, we would appreciate
it; or, if you are selling a Sunfish, we have Club members who are always in the
market for a sailboat.
This year, we have a very active sailing season (May
through October); including a Summer Racing Series, Women's Racing Series, Jill
& Jack Regatta, Instructional Days, Erskine vs. Cupsaw Challenge, a growing
and very competitive Junior Sailing Fleet (ages 10 through 17), and the annual
"Run Whatcha Brung" (open to all ELPOA members using any type of human
or wind-powered watercraft), held on ELPOA Day, with social activities as well.
Club members receive racing results, details and information of upcoming activities
through the Club e-letter (via e-mail) and the ELPOA Courier.
Here is the best
part - basic annual dues are only $20.00 per family.
The use of a club loaner
boat for racing or practice cruising is just an additional $10.00 per family for
the entire season. All that is required is a reservation with a club officer.
Boats are loaned out on a first come, first served basis.
Membership also provides
a small discount on club sponsored non-sailing activities that might have a fee,
such as the well attended Yoga Classes at Little Beach.
So, again we invite
all of you to enjoy the lake community and see what The Erskine Lakes Sailing
Club is all about. Whenever you see us gathered at Little Beach or on the water,
please feel free to stop by or join in!
If you have any additional questions
about the club or would like to join, please give me a call at 973-962-6707 or
